Under a week to go!

The deadline for the Circuit Cellar NXP Design Challenge is under a week away...

...and anyone with an mbed can enter!

In case you needed a reminder, they are offering $10,000 in prizes. That should focus the mind! I can't wait to see what some of you come up with :)

Don't leave it to the last minute to get your entries in. It always takes longer than you think, so get it in with a few days to spare.

As an aside, this is what my keyring now looks like:

Yep, that is a mbed leatherman :)

Whilst the competition is being run by Circuit Cellar (their decision is final), we'll also be looking out for any entries that are written up and published in your notebook after the deadline to share with others; catch our eye and stand out as really interesting, wacky, innovative etc (all be it in a totally unofficial way), and I might see if I can get a couple more of these exclusive toys tools made.

Btw, we particularly like videos, so including a YouTube video in your writeup is definitely recommended!

Good luck!

I want one of those! I made a realtime audio FIR filter program using the DAC, ADC and DMA. Check it out on my profile :)

Simon,

Will you be at Embedded World? Wouldn't mind to pick the mbed Letherman up at the NXP stand (my employer is exhibiting is the same hall). Will publish my Design Challenge contribution after I have uploaded it (this weekend ...),

See you maybe in Nuremberg

I have registered my project yesterday, but did not receive an confirmation email (and I have double-checked that the email address was correct). My registration number was just printed on the form response. So I could upload my documents, but I'm unsure weather my registration was sucessful or not :(

nd another question: do we need to include source code for libraries in the submission? I would include all libraries I have written by myself, but not the ones which where just imported.

Hello. When I registered they sent me an automated email with my entry number. Maybe they are now having too much traffic in the contest website. The truth is I sent Circuit Cellar TWO mails asking something about the contest and they didn't responded me. They are very busy guys.

I think you should include all and give the proper credits in the documentation. The idea is that they should be able to import the zip (exported project from the online compiler) you send them and compile your program directly. It's safer for you too. Libraries can change without previous notice.

Hope this helps. But you can wait for an official response. I guess Simon will tell you to ask to circuit cellar because those decisions are up to them.

Hi Hendrik, All,

Circuit Cellar also published this, which has more tips on entries:

The rest of the information and FAQs are on their site which seem comprehensive:

As Gonzalo says, specific questions are best directed to Circuit Cellar as they set the rules, but the FAQs section and instructions are pretty complete, so hopefully you can find all you need.

And I'd encourage anyone entering to get your entry in asap, to avoid problems; it'd be ashame to miss the deadline because you didn't give yourself enough time to go through the steps of the entry process.

btw. We will be around at Embedded World, so come and say hi! I'm afraid there is only one of these Leatherman in the world and that is mine! And they aren't giveaways anyway; we'll only make a few and they will have to be earned :)

Have fun!

Simon

OK, I asked CircuitCellar, and got a really fast response - my registration actually went through, so I'm set to go :)

I forgot to ask about the libraries, but since they programs will be imported into the online compiler, I will leave external libraries as is (but will give credit for their authors in my documentation anyway).

Circuit Cellar will always response if something is wrong or missing in the contest entry but this needs a bit of time. Therefore it's really important that you DO NOT WAIT till the last day, the deadline, because it can be to late for repairing things, if something goes wrong!!!!!!!!
