Shield Giveaway Promotes Components!!

What's the best way to introduce new features of mbed? Freebies for the community! The new mbed Component Database hosts reusable libraries for different hardware, middleware and IoT services that you can use with ARM Microcontrollers. These components can be used as building blocks for quickly developing prototypes and products. Find out more details about the Component Database. http://mbed.org/blog/entry/component-database/

Thanks to our awesome partners and friends we have some free swag to giveaway in return for completing a Component Database entry.

Freebie Details

Since some of the shields aren't functional by themselves we ask that you send an email to contact@mbed.org and detail what you'd do with the shield and how it would help you with a project or learn something new. Tell us your top 3 choices since supply is limited and which platform you'd like! Also include:

  • mbed user name
  • postal address, including post code
  • contact telephone number
  • contact email address

Nothing's free, what's the catch? In return we'd like you to add an entry into the component database for the shield or module complete with an example program, core library and well written documentation to help other people get up and running quickly. A YouTube video of your completed work would be cool too! Here's an example of a well documented component. A lot of the work may have already be done by someone else in the community. We'd encourage you to look for the most imported library and if one exists then work off of that. Update documentation or coding style to provide the most coherent starting point for someone new to the component by getting all relevant data centralized!
