For the past few years, the Mbed community in Japan is organizing 'Mbed Fest', a quarterly celebration for the community that highlights local partners, companies and individuals using Mbed. I attended the Mbed Fest Japan in Tokyo on the 27th of October 2018, which inspired me to arrange a similar event in Korea. And so, the first Mbed Fest Korea was held successfully on the 29th of December 2018. With the event being held on one the coldest days of the year, and being so close to the event of the year it was a fantastic surprise to see so many people show up.

Out of the 30 people who attended the event, 73% of respondents in the online survey were not familiar with Mbed. To make it easier to get started with Mbed, I prepared a developer board (ST B-L475E-IOT01A1) as a gift for the participants. To get them started, I have made a video clip of the sensor operation use case (https://youtu.be/-ljTn7bEDrg). Hope It helps attendees understand Mbed!

Products using Mbed from CodeZoo

Several people contributed to the arrangements of the Mbed Fest Korea. One of the sponsors was the head of Seoul Business Agency (SBA) - Maker space G·CAMP. CodeZoo presented ‘Quick prototyping with Mbed’ and SetaLab gave a presentation on ‘Arm MBED's LoRa Technology Application state’, both companies are active Mbed users. Finally, the representative of Sigma Delta-tech(Mbed Enabled), the official partner of Arm, gave a presentation about 'Commercialization of IoT products and services using Mbed technology'.

After the event, I received a lot of questions and got some feedback. The next Mbed Fest events are scheduled in other cities in the first half of 2019. Keep an eye on the Mbed Korea Facebook page.

새해 복 많이 받으세요!(Happy New Year!)
