This content relates to a deprecated version of Mbed

Mbed 2 is now deprecated. For the latest version please see the Mbed OS documentation.

Building on the success of the mbed project with Vodafone, we have teamed up with Sprint Nextel to bring the same cellular connectivity to mbed in North America.

Integrating mobile connectivity into a project often presents a complex challenge for hardware and software designers alike. The hardware can be complex, with RF considerations to make, not to mention approvals, while software stacks are complex to port and difficult to debug.

This rapid prototyping developer kit created by mbed and Sprint overcomes these challenges by providing a pre-integrated driver for the Sprint 598U USB modem within the mbed SDK environment. This enables developers to focus on their project with the reassurance of a fully integrated and functional modem.

The Sprint USB Modem library for the mbed Microcontroller enables the 598U CDMA modem, proving interfaces and APIs for

  • Sockets,
  • HTML5 web sockets,
  • HTTP Client,
  • NTP Client
  • SMS messaging.
