Opensource Mbed library ?

18 May 2011

Hello !

I'm currently porting the grbl G-code interpreter ( http://dank.bengler.no/-/page/show/5470_grbl?ref=mst ) to the ARM platform ( lpc1769 chips, so mBed included ). As Grbl, it'll be opensource, and I'd really love to use the mBed library to do the job, it would make things much easier. But I can't really use it in it's closed-source ( if I've understood everything ) form. I think I have read on the forums somewhere that there were plans to opensource it. Is this still planned ? When is it planned to happen ?

Thanks !

Hi Arthur,

Sounds like a great project!

You are correct; the core libraries are a pre-built library, and will continue to be until further notice. There are some existing threads about this in the forum somewhere.

As a related aside, I will be hiring someone to look at this area and others such as RTOS soon, to help improve the software ecosystem in the mcu space, and this will obviously be part of the considerations. More then...
