BlueUSB and iOS

24 Jun 2012

Hey

I'm thinking about making a system which can detect if it is connected to my iPhone or not (over bluetooth). I know that apple generally is very strict whit the iOS and bluetooth so i was wondering if anyone have had any luck with connecting a "2$" USB bluetooth module with a iPhone using BlueUSB?

I haven't tried with BlueUSB, but I experimented with the roving networks RN-42 and the iPhone happily connected when emulating a BT HID keyboard. So getting BlueUSB to be a hid keyboard should connect without issues.

Hope that is useful to know,

Simon

Hello Simon,

are You using roving networks RN-42 or RN-42 HID? On sparkfun they have both but HID version have to be default acting as HID device and classic RN-42 as serial? Or can RN-42 be reprogrammed to have same functionality as HID version.

Some time ago I found Your notebook page about RN-42 does it still exists?
