Why not Keil?

Given that ARM now owns Keil, I completely fail to see the point in having yet another IDE. Why not bite the bullet, and give away Keil? It will help to sell chips, you know.

Keil works on Windows only, Eclipse on Windows, Mac and Linux. The C++ IDE capabilities of Eclipse are far superior compared to Keil. What would make sense to use the Keil ARM Compiler which produces better code than GCC.

OK, so why not DS-5, then? Or DS-MDK? The Internet is full of free Development Tools, why losing time in reinventing the wheel once more? Wouldn't make more sense to invest time and money to add dedicated modules into an existing DevSys?
