Problems with firmware on KL25Z
Hi,
Real problems trying to upgrade the firmware.
I plug in the board depressing the keyswitch and the thing looks like a drive called bootloader.
I copy the latest firmware across.
Unplug and replug the board without the button pressed.
And NOTHING. It isn't recognised by the PC and the lights don't flash... just sits there.
Done this on both windows 7 and 8 pcs.
Any suggestions???
Regards,
David Cowan

Had the same problem, try the original rev 0200 that was the only one that worked and still does on my board using win7.
https://developer.mbed.org/handbook/Firmware-FRDM-KL25Z
rev 0200 is at the bottom, click on the three dots in the brackets, save and extract the zip file then drop the 'mbed_if_v2.0_frdm_kl25z.s19' file onto your FRDM-KL25Z using windows explorer.
posted by 06 Jun 2015Don't know how but I can now download all 3 versions from an old (200,201,203) from an old vista machine. It seems to enumerate OK on my Win8.1 as MBED OK and I can download a program. My problem now is that there is no sign of the COM port.. Any suggestions??
posted by 06 Jun 2015I use Windows 7 so not sure about 8.1
However make sure you have the latest windows serial port driver installed.
https://developer.mbed.org/handbook/Windows-serial-configuration
I would suggest to uninstall your existing driver first and start a fresh.

Did you update the bootloader on the device? There is a note on the referenced paged about that.
posted by Sam Grove 05 Jun 2015Should only be required to make it work under windows 8.1. And since you can't update it under windows 8.1 it is a bit useless.
For sure it is not going to work under windows 8.1, since afaik Freescale still ships them with old bootloader. Which latest firmware are you using?
posted by Erik - 05 Jun 2015No, should I have??? It indicated that it was only relevant to Macs and Linux. Or am I missing something?? Thanks David Cowan
posted by David Cowan 05 Jun 2015I think it is version 2.03. The one on this page.
