Modbus support?

Has anyone looked at Modbus? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modbus

I'm looking at communication with my ECU(An Adaptronic e420c http://adaptronic.com.au/ )

Sadly it doesn't use CAN, so it's not going to be as easy as it could be, Modbus doesn't look to scarily complicated, but I thought I'd ask first incase someone else had already done it :)

Here is a great reference for converting modbus to UART serial interface.

Send commands using ASCII characters.
