Has 12v fried my RTC.

06 Dec 2010

OUCH.

Was running my mbed from 4.5v and I had the 4.5v rail on my breadboard connected to VB.

decided to run it from a 12v source.

FORGOT to remove the wire from the 4.5v rail to VB, and I put 12v into VB.

Now my RTC has stopped. I can set it, but it doesn't count.

Do I need to put a sticker on my mbed saying "No RTC". ?

or is there a way back for it ?

Yep,..

I can set it and read it back.

it just doesn't count.

I was *really* hoping it had a voltage regulator that had overheated, and cut out.

seems to be still reading my temp sensor ok. and flashing LED's just fine.
