Graphical dashboard for solar vehicle

Our solar vehicle uses the CAN communication standard to transfer all measurements and control data operating inside the car.  It would be extremely helpful for the driver to be able to see exactly whats going on inside the vehicle, and have the following information displayed:
  • Speed of car (speedometer)
  • Power usage of motor
  • Battery capacity
  • Amount of power being received by the solar array
  • A green/blue/red indicator to if we're getting more power than we're using, or vice versa
  • Car health indicator
This project will require the following addition components
  • CAN Transceiver (MCP2551)
  • GLCD Display (preferably one that is supported by a mbed library, the nokia LCD is a good contender, but I'll keep searching for a 4" display)
  • Inputs for buttons
