New Board to include:

LPC1768

Ethernet PHY: possibly supporting 100baseFX for a fiber-optic

at45 serial flash storage for the data logging storage

Max336: multiplexing and demuxing to allow 32 inputs that may be muxed into several different analog ranges.

Minimum two RS232 ports

minimum two RS485 ports

usb host controller

Of course, as soon as you put your own LPC1768 on a board you have to deal with the problem of the MBED loader microcontroller and its connection to the LPC1768, which uses JTAG. I suppose you could make an MBED into an MBED interface by removing or disabling (by holding in reset, etc.) the LPC1768, and then connect the crippled MBED to your new board.
