Workshop

In the first half of the workshop, users experienced from registration to flashing of the LED through "mbed first touch" hands-on program. Okano-san (NXP Semiconductors) of mbed executive committees handled it. Since it was the full-participation-by-attendees workshop, various devices including mbed LPC1768 were used. We spent more time than usual and proceeded one by one. We had a network trouble once, but all attendees completed works and gone through the program.

Another hands-on program "Let's connect mbed to sensors" was done in the second half of the workshop. This was handled by Katsu-san of JKSoft the super developer of mbed community. He explained about the structure of breadboards and temperature sensor, and how to use them. He also explained the installation instruction of a serial driver for Windows and the use of terminal software of Mac with Q & A going on at the same time to solve problems. All attendees were checking others' layouts and teach process for each other, and it was certainly a great workshop with a sense of unity.

When the program error occurred in the prepared sample program, he claimed that "...well, it is just a part of practice to solve compiling errors!" He's so charming. Temperature sensors and breadboards used were given to attendees. Hope everyone will try different ways of use them at home. You may find the list of materials used for the workshop here.

The mbed board lineup and projects were displayed in the demo section. I expect many inspirations will spin out from here. Lots of information and questions/answers were exchanged also.

Lucky draw

Social gathering

Another good opportunity to exchange information, opinion and questions/answers, and everyone enjoyed it! We all cleaned up afterwards. I appreciate it very much.

Remarks

It was the first hands-on mbed fest targeting mbed beginners, and mbed Executive Committees were tensed a little, but we're relieved that all attendees enjoyed this workshop. I also would like to say thank you for those of you watched broadcasting on USTREAM!
