stm nucleo F042k6 burned?
when i plug in the usb cable it can on. but it keeps writing no space. is there a way to format it? when i go the drive itself, it writes free space 0 kb. previously i accidentally on the dc adaptor 12v connected with the 5v on the board. then i saw smoke. could that be the cause of the no space?

You connected 12V to pin 4 (+5V)?
That would have connected 12V to the input of the main power regulator which is only rated to 5.5V. My guess is that you've fried the power supply for the CPU and possibly the CPU itself.
There is a separate power regulator for the ST link processor, if that survived then the system would show up on USB but you couldn't program anything because the part you want to program has no power.
