Cookbook page has disappeared

With the recent makeover of the mbed classic website the link to the cookbook page has gone missing. The page still exists here. Question to mbed staff: was this page removed deliberately. If so, could you please merge the content with the Documentation (ie handbook page). There is still a lot of useful information (ie links to notebook pages and code) on the cookbook page.

Considering the cookbook homepage was made read only a while ago I assume it is intentional.

Hi Wim,

The Cookbook link was removed from the top navigation due to a lot of the information being out of date. That being said, you're right that there is still a lot of useful information still on there. I've added a link to the Cookbook at the top of the Handbook.

Hope that helps!

-Brian

So you make the cookbook homepage read only, and then you complain it is outdated? (Which is funny coming from the amount of outdated info that is on the handbook pages).

Brian, do you mean in the 'Documentation' page (it is there), can't see a 'Handbook' page.

edit.. how about removing 'unanswered questions' after a period of time, lots of clutter there.

Hi Brian, thx for adding the link again. I think some clean-up on the cookbook would be great:

Many links to components/code on the cookbook page should be removed and the code should be listed on the Components page instead (I did that for my posted cookbook code last year following a request by Stephen Paulger). Could mbed staff do that in case the original author is no longer active/responsive. BTW the Component page could also use some cleanup and added categories: there are lots of RTCs and ADCs/DACs all over the place that should have their own category to make them easier to find.

Perhaps the cookbook page can be removed all together after merging the remaining data into the Documentation page (intros, getting started on USB, TCP/IP, IoT, baseboards etc) or perhaps add some links on the Documentation page to detailed info/pages on a specific topic like TCP/IP, IoT etc.

I also second Erik's request to make the (detailed) pages editable again after some precautions to keep the spammers at safe distance.

Hi Everyone,

Glad we were able to get the Cookbook page link back for you!

The Cookbook is definitely in need of some tidying. It's still in read only mode for the moment. But like Wim said, I think many of the links can be migrated to the Components page. If you own some of the links in the Cookbook feel free to start migrating them to Components where relevant. If you drop me a message I'd be happy to remove the links from the Cookbook for you.

We will need to investigate blocking spammers before making the Cookbook writable again, but do you have any other ideas on how we could present the valuable data in the Cookbook in a different way?

Thanks,

Brian
