the files in mbed are treated diferently from other files they cannot be removed or renamed a downloaded binary file is not copied to mbed with diagnostic "error opening, read only file system"

The answer "read only system" is typical of a error, like - a file operation is not closed but the mbed stops - double access, from the PC and from the mbed.
The only correction I use is to reformat the mbed.
