Custom Board JTAG

If I am making a custom board with JTAG wired the same as on the mbed schematic, is it straight forward to load the .bin file to the microcontroller using a programmer? What is the software/procedure required?

I've done it with the lpcexpresso LPC-LINK http://mbed.org/users/tecnosys/notebook/lpc1768-programming-via-10pin-jtagsw/

but seen post using OCD hardware http://www.openhardware.net

other products like the Keil ulink http://www.keil.com/ulink/
