2.8v <---> 3.3v signal level conversion...

23 Dec 2010

Has anyone had any experience with devices such as the Telit GSM modules interfacing with the mBed? I am putting together an experiment which uses the GE865 Eval board available from sparkFun... http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9342 I've played around with it connected via USB to my PC with much success and it works great... I am now looking to interface it with the mBed but the documentation states very clearly that a 3.0v level is the maximum for the modules RX/TX, etc..

Anyone have some advice on a reliable method of dropping the 3.3v from the mBed to 2.8v levels for this device? I really would hate to fry an expensive device like this...and it's my first experience with 2.8v devices... =/

Much thanks!

Thanks Dimiter, I will take a look at that.. I'm using a voltage divider right now with pretty good success....until I get some time to order parts.. But I do want a more acceptable solution like the device you suggested..

Thanks!
