Servo problem

10 Nov 2010

Hello,

I made a simple test routine to control a servo - circuit same as in 'cookbook - servo' but using 4 NimH cells = 4.8V (tried also 4 batteries = 6V) on a breadboard.

If I use my very old (10years) 'modelcraft S21' it works (but this servo is too big).

If I use my brand new 'modelcraft VSD-3' the servo starts oszillating with 2-3Hz back and for - in average it stays on the correct position... I tried to increase the p20 voltage with an CD4049 to the servo voltage but without success. In my RC this servo works correct.

Any ideas ?

The 'modelcraft VSD-3'  is a digital servo which needs much more current...
Together with my test-prog analog-in = servo-out (because of noise the analog value is changing a littlebit everytime) the servo has control it's position a lot = high current consumption...
The problem was the poor plastic-cell-holder - probably the voltage droped down with the digital servo...
Using a soldered accu package solved the problem.
