Help with byte values from I2C component. (SE95D temp sensor)

Hi all..

so, I have a SE95D I2C temperature sensor.

Its in a tiny package  which I've broken out myself, and I've added some 2k2 pull up resistors.

What I am missing is the C knowledge to change the 2 chars that come back from my I2C read.

containing an 11 bit 2'c complement number into an integer.

any help would be gratefully received.
