Transferring files from mbed to wifly gsx breakout?

Hello!! I'm trying to send files from the mbed to my wifly breakout chip and onto a ftp server.
Roving networks does mention how to create and retrieve files from a FTP server but doesn't mention anything about transferring files from the wifly to the server. The commands seem to be used only in the command mode of the wifly as well, no mention of how to programme it from the compiler.
I'm trying to send pictures from a camera onto the mbed, to the wifly and finally to the server(rough idea)
Has anyone done it before? Any idea how to?
