The RS-EDP platform is a universal modular development platform that provides the user with the ability to tailor the hardware to the application required. A central base board has four slots which can take application modules and a central command module. The RS-EDP will have a carrier that can accept the MBED module which will allow it to become a command module for the RS-EDP platform. The other three slots on the base board can be used for applications modules such as a communcations modules (RS232/RS485/USB), an analogue module for ADC measurement, a digital I/O module for I/O expansion, a brushed DC motor drive module for driving motors, and a twin brushless DC module for driving brushless motors. The RS-EDP platform as its name suggests is available from RS components and was designed for them by Hitex UK.
Hitex have currently written most of the drivers for the mbed module to support the modules available for the platform. What is more, some of the examples already written for the MBED module will work directly on the RS-EDP platform, such as the ethernet examples. The base board has the magnetically isolated Ethernet conector on it which directly maps on to the ethernet pins on the MBED module.
The RS-EDP platform can be viewed on the RS web site. Enter the words 'RS Embedded Development Platform' into the search bar on the RS web site. This will bring up all of the modules and prices.
A more up to date list of software, pictures and documents can be found on the Hitex web site...

For those interested in STR91x ARM9 based devices from ST there is a command module for this item also.
