Whatever the die hard assembly language bit-twiddlers may say, there's a place for higher level languages on embedded, now that we have processors powerful enough to do it.
It's all about being productive: building something more interesting, more quickly than you could with C++, C, or assembly.
There's of course still a place for low level coding too but as MCUs get more powerful, the places for it will shrink, just as it did for PCs.
All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.
