Urgent: Compiler Error 230 Syntax error(s) in Assembly.

Hello

Suddenly our projects for NXP LPCXPresso68 (LPC11U68) no longer work.

We get "Compiler Error 230. Syntax error(s) in Assembly."

Compiler was working 25th March 2019 , two days ago

Also verified older versions of our PokittoLib that used to work no longer do

I really think mbed should employ a different strategy in pushing updates to the online IDE.

The issue reported here was reported to me by an after-school teacher with a full class of kids. Their day was ruined because mbed - yet again - suddenly ceased working

mbed should either: A) roll back to a previous setup if users begin reporting fatal errors B) have two versions of compiler (latest / stable) - just like in software distributions

I have now encountered this same situation several times. mbed changes the environment and our users are left stranded. We have >1000 users so this is not a small thing or something that can be left unfixed for a period of time.

Yeah I have to agree, we had a critical client deadline, which we have missed due to the IDE being unusable overnight.

The online IDE should be considered a mission critical application.

CONTINUED 2:

It is working again.

What bugs me most about mbed is this:

1. there's been no reply to my message 2. now it has been fixed and still no indication what happened

You may think that I am whining for nothing (after all its only been 14 hours since the question was posted) but I manage 1000 users ON MY OWN, our forum has 950k page loads per year

HOW is it possible, that a multi-billion megacorp like ARM can't find the resources to get people to make the BUGS section of its own ecosystem into a responsive forum? (*) I have spoken of this directly to Marianne and Jan, and although things have improved, it still feels like shouting into the wind every time I have to come over here

IN ANY CASE

BIG THANK YOU MBED its now fixed and WORKS!

Edit: (*) I'll give a quick free online training to the folks at mbed. "Hi Jonne! I am sorry to hear that. We are looking into it." Takes NO technical expertise, takes less that 1 minute. But customer / community experience is much improved. This, dear friends, is more of an attitude and management problem than anything else.

Edit2: I may be too harsh, because I accidentally posted this on "Questions" and not Bugs. my bad

I find the same working in a UK University.

Next year I'll be moving to PlatformIO or Mbed Studio (assuming it is out of beta). The online compiler is fine for light-use/bedrooom hobbyists, but just isn't dependable enough for large-scale use.

Yeah if we could use Mbed Studio that would be great, but seeing as we cant even get an mbed blinky example to build with that, i think there is still lots of work to do.

- Quite a few of my students use Platform IO and find it very good. Guess it depends if it suuports the board you are using, not really had much chance to play with it, so don't know for sure.
