BLE API setAdvertisingTimeout on NRF52 and excessive current draw on NRF52.

I have an BLE application which behaves as a BLE peripheral device, that has set the Advertising Interval to 1 second. In the absence of using the setAdvertisingTimeout, will the BLE application continuously advertise? If not what is the default interval between advertisements? The reason I ask this question is NRF52 is almost using 3-5 ma and its way too much and at this rate we will burn up the battery in no time, when no central device connected.

Thanks, Ajay
