Multitech mDot xDot - MBed Example programs dissapeared?

Hi,

Months ago, the first times I tested the MBed online compiler for the mDot, there were plenty of examples to import into the program. Actually, I have imported some of them and have them since then: /media/uploads/rgabriel/examples.png

Now I can’t find all this examples to import, I can only find this one for both, xDot / mDot: /media/uploads/rgabriel/examples2.png

Why have been removed all the other example programs? Did Multitech removed them? Do we need to contact them? We and our customers would need more examples.

I could still search and see many mDot examples from the onlineIDE. /media/uploads/FredLi/mdot.png

Hi Radu,

I have information from Multitech regarding you question, hope this clears things up :)

Quote:

Our original example programs had a number of issues that led me to create a new set of examples for our Dot products (mDot & xDot):

  • 1. The original examples only supported the mDot (our first Dot product)
  • 2. The original examples were all inconsistent with each other
  • 3. It was a lot of work to maintain all the original examples we accumulated
  • 4. There were more of these original examples that there needed to be - we ended up duplicating examples for common mbed APIs like digital & analog pins, SPI, I2C, serial, etc, which now have solid examples and are well documented in the mbed-os 5 documentation
  • 5. The original examples only supported mbed classic
  • 6. The original examples were simplistic and only demonstrated the "happy path"

For these reasons, I created a new program, Dot-Examples, which contains multiple applications demonstrating different use cases for the mDot and xDot using our LoRa stack. It is more realistic and demonstrates features that will be valuable to customers deploying Dots in the field. It can be built for either the mDot or xDot, is well documented, and is maintainable since it is only one program.

The old examples are still available on the MultiTech code page on mbed, but I've removed them from the mDot and xDot platform pages because they're no longer what we want our customers to be using - they should be looking at Dot-Examples instead. We simply don't have the resources to support and maintain all of those examples.
