FRDM-K64 - 'The driver could not be installed. No mbed Microcontrollers were found'.
I just got a Freescale FRDM-K64 board, and it would not let me install the Windows serial driver, arguing that 'The driver could not be installed. No mbed Microcontrollers were found'. In order to get it to work, your going to need to update the firmware for the KRDM-K64F. Go to http://developer.mbed.org/handbook/Firmware-FRDM-K64F, and just follow the instructions on this page, and everything will start working!

I have the same problem on a Windows7 PC. Why does the installation of a USB-Serial driver even need the board to be connected. This is not nice.

The same happened to me with a FRDM-KL46Z. The box said: FRDM-KL46Z, but the firmware identified as other board and the link to Freescale website took me to a webpage thas said "Obsolete".
I had to figure out how to update, the board, even with the help of an old Windows XP machine that fortunately had access. Finaly I succeed, but I think Freescale should offer products without this sort of dificulties.
