Question of PCB
Assuming mbed gpio run at H 3.3V when designing a custom pcb for this display derived from the adafruit breakout "http://www.adafruit.com/product/1393" is it possible to remove the 74HC4050D Buffer "http://www.adafruit.com/product/1393" as i feel it expects 5V gpio from Arduino?
Thanks.

The display is 3V powered and 3V logic, so we placed it on a fully assembled & tested breakout board with a 3V regulator and level shifting circuitry.
The datasheet they have confirms that LCD uses 3v3 for power and logic. Should be safe :)
