Freescale FRDM KL25Z - Reinstall original MSD Flash Programmer Application

Hello everybody,

is it possible to reinstall the original MSD Flash Programmer Application on my Freescale FRDM board after installing the mbed.org firmware? Because i just tried to drag and drop the file MSD-FRDM-KL25Z_Pemicro_v105.SDA from the FRDM-KL25Z quick start to the BOOTLOADER image and give the board a power cycle, but this didn't take any effect.

Thanks for your answers, David

Problem solved: There seems to be problems under linux with the old bootloader. So using windows instead fixed the problem. Probably updating the bootloader under windows and afterwards use linux should fix the problem too.

Hello David,

just press reset button while plugging in the usb cable, board should enter bootloader mode, so yuou can reflash it again. A question : how doi you know it did not take effect? There are few version of openSDA Pemicro firmware, the older version does nto have any msd flash drive, so you won't see any new drive on your machine, but a serial port should be visibile.

Hi Martin,

thanks for the fast answer. I did exactly what you describe: unplug, hold reset button, plug, the bootloader drive appears, i copied the openSDA Pemicro firma onto that drive and gave it a power cycle.

It didn't take any effect means that still the "mbed" drive appears instead of the "FRDM-KL25Z" drive, when I plug in the board into my computer. And if I just copy a *.srec precompiled example from the quick start package onto that drive, I get a fail.txt file with "BAD EXTENSION FILE" in it. I think that's the correct behaviour of the mbed.org firmware.

I used MSD-FRDM-KL25Z_Pemicro_v105.SDA .
