Replacement?
Hi,
I'd really like to use this part/library but it appears that the SAA1064 and all variations of it from NXP have reached End Of Life. Does anybody know of any similar parts that could replace it? I contacted NXP and they do not have any replacements being made, but I was wondering if any other IC company was making something similar.
Thanks!

Of course different to your NXP SAA1064 but Adafruit make a range of 7-segment LED display modules like the one here https://www.adafruit.com/product/878 that use the Holtek HT16K33 I2C 16x8 LED driver with keyboard scanning https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheets/ht16K33v110.pdf. There's plenty of example code on mbed like this https://os.mbed.com/users/onehorse/code/BMP180/file/06dc60296e6e/HT16K33.h/ I've used the HT16K33 successfully with mbed and they work well.

If you check ebay there are still plenty of them around. http://www.ebay.nl/sch/i.html?_odkw=SAA1064&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=SAA1064&_sacat=0
There are also other I2C LED drivers available from NXP. Maxim have LED/7 segment drivers also, but they are not hardware compatible.
