Trouble Programming Sainsmart LPC1768 Dev Board....Help
Hello, I am a new user with the lpc1768 dev board. All I want to do is run the simple hello world program so that I can get a feel for flashing code onto the board using flash magic but I am completely lost. Can anyone provide step by step instructions on setting a COM port so that I may be able to actually download code to the board. I have downloaded all essential software I just dont know where to go from here, my computer keeps telling me that any COM port I choose is (in use), my senior design project DEPENDS ON THIS BOARD, can anyone please help me PLEASE.

This looks like a problem with your PC rather than a problem with the board. Have you checked the available com ports in the pc device manager. Are they ok, any issues with the drivers. Are you able to select and use these com ports with other applications such as hyperterminal.
Ok I will try and figure out how to set up a COM port for this device, also do you download code through the same usb port on the board as the one that gives power?
posted by 12 Mar 2014You can use that USB port but only with software like Segger J-flash. Your question was related to using the serial bootloader and Flashmagic.
