mbed controlled by Xively?

Dear users,

I'm pretty new to this field and I might have some background goals, therefore, I beg for mercy :P. I'm running on an NXP LPC1768 and the mbed application board.

I'm looking forward deploying some kind of cloud based application for controlling an mbed device, which in turn shall control a motor based on information gathered from sensors, or even simple, a LED.

Uploading data to Xively platform is pretty straightforward, therefore I managed to load data from sensors and observe it to Xively platform, but I did not found any information or tutorial of how to manage information gathered in the cloud so it could trigger the start and stop commands of a motor or a LED.

I watch almost any video and presentation about Xively cloud concept and from what I understood it is possible to manage information and control devices but how? Did anybody succeeded?

Would Axeda be a better solution?

Thanks, Mircea.

Hi Mircea,

According to the Xively website:

Quote:

Using the Xively Developer Workbench, you can get prototypes up and running quickly and easily.

Customizable device workspaces give you the power to configure and control channels, meta-data, fine-grain permissions, conditional triggers, time-series data archiving and interconnection with other devices, apps and services.

Having done a bit of reading on the web, it sounds like you can use the Xively Developer Workbench to setup Triggers to send commands.

Please share how you get on with this.
