And if the mbed disk doesn't come back up after following these instructions?

What then? Is it a failed fw load? Is the device recoverable or is it bricked? I can always get the 'CRP DISABLD' disk to come back up using step #1 above, but can no longer get the 'mbed' disk to come back up...

try to update the firmware with mcopy on Linux (or maybe another OS) and use a target file name that fits into the old 8.3 convention. My assumption is that using longer names (or the vfat extension) irritates the firmware. I got my LPC800-MAX working again by following this approach.

I did finally go back and re-attempt this using Windows 7. I now have the MBED disk, so the firmware update appears to have succeeded. I had previously attempted this using ChromeOS, Linux and Mac OS X.
