How to build a simple laser beam breaker

Hi Guys,

Could you tell me what would be required to build a simple laser beam that when broken would send a signal back maybe to a pc or LCD text screen to say so.

I was looking at the laser beam modules on spark fun website and wondering could this be used

I am trying to replicate the laser beam on the m3pi robot racing but again am not sure what is required or involved.

Well you can use and infrared led and infrared receiver connected to a pin of the mbed maybe to sense when someone broke the beam
