Why won't the mbed appear in my finder after I copy files onto the compiler

I have tried to load programs onto the mbed platform KL25Z. After I follow the instructions and copy the files to the bootloader. I unplug it then plug it back in and nothing happens. The KL25Z doesn't appear in my finder. The BOOTLOADER appears without a problem.

You may have to copy the mbed firmware to BOOTLOADER from Windows. I was unable to get that part to work from my Mac, but once I got the firmware to the BOOTLOADER from a Windows installation (I used parallels on my Mac), it started showing up in Finder as MBED. Good luck.

Have you installed the mbed firmware described here: http://mbed.org/platforms/KL25Z/? If the drive is named BOOTLOADER, you're seeing the factory bootloader on the interface chip. Once you've installed the mbed firmware, a new drive called MBED will show up. This is the drive you should be copying your .bin files to. Make sure you're not holding down the reset button when you plug it in, as this will also trigger the bootloader.
