Education

Here at mbed HQ we're trying to support educational institutions as best we can. Some of the things we can offer are listed here. If there are other ways in which we can help, please feel free to drop us a line at support@mbed.org

Additional Licenses for use in Classes, Labs and Groups

Every user working on mbed should have their own user account, just like with email.

Whilst every mbed Microcontroller comes with a licence key to create an account for their owner, if you are sharing mbed hardware in an educational environment with more users than hardware (in classes, labs or group projects, or re-using in subsequent years), we will be happy to sponsor additional accounts. This way, every mbed user can have their own personal mbed account.

To apply, simply contact support@mbed.org with the following information:

  • Name
  • Position
  • Establishment
  • Number of physical microcontrollers you have
  • Number of additional accounts you require
  • The titles of the courses/project/research you are undertaking

If successful, you will receive a set of additional sign-up codes. With them, you or your students can easily create a permanent mbed account each, regardless of how many boards you have.

To see how to use signup codes, see the Signup-Codes information page.

Note

Every new mbed Microcontroller includes a single license key to create one mbed account.

However, it does not tie your account to that specific mbed Microcontroller. Once registered, you can use your account with any mbed Microcontroller of that type!

There is more information about licences at the Licences page.

Microcontroller Sponsorship

If you are a student (or a member of staff) undertaking some interesting project work or research that would be valuable to the mbed community, you can apply to receive a sponsored microcontroller.

More details about this program can be found at the Sponsorship page.

Workshops and Demo Sessions

If you are looking to trial mbed in your establishment, or want to run a workshop to teach others about mbed, we can help out by providing notes/powerpoint for a trial workshop session to introduce the audience to mbed. Give us an email at support@mbed.org
