The information about updating software for the LPCXpresso LPC1549 board on this page: http://developer.mbed.org/teams/NXP/wiki/Updating-LPCXpresso-firmware provides good information. After you download the two programs listed under Requirements, stop. Go to the bottom of that page and under the Binary Downloads, download the firmware image for the LPC1549 board. The return to the Instructions section. When you download the firmware file first, you'll have it ready for the following steps.
Step 4 requires you to remove the JP3 jumper and unplug-plug the USB cable. You plug the USB cable back into the SAME USB connector on the board. That is, the USB connector nearest to the Reset pushbutton.
The location referred to above provides good information. It was difficult to find it, though.
