The work required is somewhat beyond my capabilities, but I wish to throw it out here as an idea. The Wiznet w5500 would open up every small micro to IOT mbed-os 5 because it removes the need for a Microcontroller ethernet controller, LwIP, PHY MII interface and the 10's of KB of buffer RAM. Any services that build use NetworkSocketAPI would be supported. The WiFi modules also look promising, but I need wired as its an industrial application.
