DesignSpark have just launched the first of their Synergy range of lab boards designed to work with mbed. It's part breakout board and part development board featuring the usual comms sockets, an H-bridge driver chip for driving two DC motors, standard Futuba headers for R/C servos and a header for the first of a range of stackable mini-modules - a stereo audio CODEC.
The board should be equally at home in a product development lab or school/university lab. In the latter case it is intended that students will get to grips with embedded computing, learning how to make software drive real-world hardware such as motors, and read/process data from analogue sensors.
All the software drivers you need can be found in the mbed Handbook & Cookbook.
