Need some help on using VL53L0X with Nucleo F303K8

I am trying to use the ToF sensor VL53L0X (This one to be exact: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3317) with the Nucleo F303K8. So far I have had no luck.

I have tried a lot of libraries and methods but I can't get the sensor working. All libraries I have used seem to fail to write/read from the i2c class. Has anybody tried this combination or got it working?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
