LPC824Max /LPC1549 on 6V battery pack

28 Mar 2015

Hi,

I would like to use my embedded-artists LC824MAX or LPC1549 board to experiment with a small car robot-chassis. It should be driven from (4 * 1.5 V) battery pack (hat also power the DC motors of the robot)

What are my options to power the board from this battery-pack?

- I could use a 3.3 Volt Voltage regulator and drive that directly into the 3.3 volt pin of the LPC824MAX.

- I have also been looking at driving 6 volt directly into the "Vin" pin on the boards.

However, for some reason, the documentation on the embedded-artist website say this pin is "4.5 to 5.5 volt", which is a bit strange as 1/ the datasheet of the "XC6227C331PR" (the voltage regulator used on the board) mention the maximum voltage is 6 volt 2/ There is a shottky-diode in front of the voltage-regulator which should also reduce the input voltage on the regulator by some 0.3 volt.

Anybody any comments on this? What would be the best option?

Cheerio! Kr. Bonne.
