hi guys Ive just started with the mbed and im fully overwellmed how good this thing works. Now I want to connect the mbed with my notebook via network.

I cut a network cable. despite my expectations i dont have the usual pattern of the colored and striped wires. My cable has the colors:

-grey (1) -green -red -blue -white -orange -yellow -brows (8)

I put that uncut cable part into a rj45 connector and meassured the connection with the corresponding pins.

Which one of them are TX+ TX- and RX+ RX-

Would you be so kind and help me. The connector I used to check the wires is a CAT6 connector but which one of them are the pins i need to connect with the mbed i dont know either.

As you guys can see Im not that aware with the networking stuff. So please be kind.

Hi. I connect RD+ to green, RD- to green/white, TD+ to orange and TD- to orange/white. Hope can help you.

Just use the wiring for one of the two standards (non-crossover) on both ends of the cable. You'll be OK. I think 568B is more widely used.

Do you know that you cannot connect the wires directly to the mbed? You need a transformer+socket ("magnetics") assembly, or at least 4 capacitors between the mbed pins and the network. This has been discussed before, so you can search the forums for the information you need. The prior discussions include the pin-number/position/signal information you asked about, too.
