The mbed online compiler / editor should use tabs instead of spaces. That way, there are fewer keystrokes to hit if you want to lower the indent. (Or, at least, make it an option.)

I'm guessing it's not possible in a browser based application, as most browsers always use the tab key to change which controls are focused (you can press tab to move between buttons). Unless this shortcut can be turned off in the compiler, pressing tab would just select random buttons instead of entering a tab character.
Perhaps a different button could be used for tab, as a workaround?
