PMT9123QS | Low Power Right Angle Motion Tracking Sensor
PixArt Imaging's PMT9123 sensor is a motion-tracking X-Y motion tracking sensor with a right-angle view that can track from a distance of about 1mm to 2mm. See the notes below for common applications of this sensor as well as guides on how to bring it up.

Common Applications
This sensor is meant to track surfaces that are perpendicular to the PCB that the sensor is mounted on. Common applications are for human-interface devices with dial-like or doorknob-like controls. The sensor would be mounted on a PCB inside and it would face a moving wall. The sensor would report a number of counts depending on how much the wall has moved which can be used for controls (e.g. after detecting 5 counts to the left, do something).

There is a wide range of other possible applications for this sensor. These would typically be any type of surface tracking that requires a right-angle view and could range from applications such as human-interface devices to industrial automation.
