Desoldering 402 sized components

What if I pull a pad? What type of solder did you use? What's the liquidous temp on it? (Lead free solder is higher temp.)

Agree. Desoldering 0402 SJ1/SJ4 0R resistor from LPC812MAX is dangerous for me.

Just melt the solder, AND resistor, with just enough solder to bridge both pads

with a twist of the wrist, you can catch the resistor on the tip, and remove, do not try to keep the resistor,

use some fine solder braid, and a little no-clean flux, to remove excess solder,

then short out the other two pads, with just enough solder to bridge the pads.

Naive question, but if you are going to short the connection anyway, why not just leave the resistor and solder a piece of wire across it?

Oh - I see you say "the *other* two pads". I thought you wanted to short the same contacts.
