Hmm.. I've searched around a bit, and finally fell across a solution that will satify my needs:

4D µVGA.. This little sucker drives graphics, instead of making the mbed work so hard for it. This is probably the smartest thing for VGA driving I've seen yet!

It could probably be the one VGA controller I would use. Dunno what to use it for, but it could be nice to try it out. :-)
